First Tuesday, November Jazz
By Kathy Edwards McFarland
What you want is a fantastic Jazz Tuesday with many live venue choices …
Count on Banter Bistro, 219 W. Oak St.; Sweetwater Grill & Tavern, 115 S. Elm St., Denton; and Dan’s Silver Leaf, 103 Industrial, among your selections – after the polls close
At 7 p.m. @ Sweetwater Grill & Tavern
Conundrum: Take in the rhythmic, Jazz- fusion stylings of drummer Steve Pruitt, bassist Jeff Plant and guitarist Daran DeShazo (with a twist). The band performs from 7-9 p.m. No cover. And you can decompress after this hard-fought Presidential-election battle with nachos and a margarita.
By the way – Karen and Jimmy Meredith (owner and chef of SG&T) have opened a new salad and baked-potato bar for added dining enjoyment.
At 8 p.m. @ Banter Bistro
The votes won’t be counted until midnight – forget the stress for a few hours!
Come join us for some acoustic Early Jazz with a strong Django-Gypsy slant – a Denton tradition since 2004 … with always a great cast of characters. Dancing is encouraged.
Mister Joe & Friends (Dixieland) take the stage at 8, followed by Le Not-So-Hot Klub du Denton (Gypsy Swing) at 9.
10 p.m. @ Dan’s Silver Leaf
Post election wind-down, a lot of cutting loose with J. Paul Slavens & Friends
at Dan’s Silver Leaf. Enjoy the show.
