Hmmm, so many live music choices …

September 23, 2014

By Kathy Edwards McFarland and Mr. Joe Pinson

… all in a week! We have a full roster of live music in Denton this week – everything from Classical to Sub-Pop, but mainly our focus is on Jazz with a little bit of Blues …

A mention about this past weekend – the Denton Black Chamber of Commerce presented, for the 16th year, mind you, the Denton Blues Festival in Quakertown Park. With the scents of fresh grass, smoked meats and bar-b-que – and the sounds of children playing and blues riffs vibrating stacks of killer amps, we all got our groove on. The Blues line-up, as always was varied and professional. Without a doubt, the third weekend of September should be red-lettered on you calendar! Some of my faves were Homemade Jamz, an awesome family act, Ryan (22), Kyle (20) and Taya (16) Perry out of Tupelo, MS –  and Andrew Jr. Boy Jones and his band based in Dallas.
