Here I am. Yes, it’s me.

May 12, 2014

By Kathy Edwards McFarland

Feeling a lot like the 2007 Lyle Lovett song, Here I am, I write this post after many mini-adventures to update and inform you, dear readers. Lots of what I write is Denton Jazz-related, but not all, as living in Denton is the sum of many things. And many of those things have influenced my ability to share awesome, on-going Denton Jazz events.

Thing 1: Weather is a major force in North Texas – and whether we should blame this ramped-up Spring Storm season on Global Warming, or just another Spring in Texas – hail, rain and wind continue to wreak havoc. After the April 3, triple hail event, our house and car bore damage that couldn’t be ignored.

Thing 2: Dealing with insurance adjusters, contractors, car repair businesses, etc.

Thing 3: Denton Arts & Jazz Festival engaged more than 200,000 attendees. I was one of them.

Thing 4: My wonderful husband had knee surgery.

After that small pile of excuses (um, things), here is the May 12-19 Denton Jazz Chronicles run-down. (Please note, some of the listings are Jazz, some are not.)
