Dallas Jazz Piano Society concert season announced
Note: Dan Haerle, University of North Texas NT alum and Jazz Piano/Improvisation Instructor at Dallas School of Music,
is director of the Dallas Jazz Piano Society announced the DJPS concert series for 2013-2014. This group is devoted to fostering the cause of jazz piano music in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex.
I have exciting news about the series next season! We will be presenting our concerts at the Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas! They have a fine Steinway piano and it is an excellent venue! Also, we have a great line up for the series! Here are the details:
The Dallas Jazz Piano Society – 2013-2014 Concert Season

Featured pianists at the April, 2013, DJPS “Rising Stars” concert: l. to r. Damian Garcia, Ji-Sung Kim, Lynn Seaton (bass), Rich DeRosa (drums), Sam Garner and Michael Clement. Nice job everyone!
All concerts are held on Thursday nights, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sammons Center for the Arts. The dates for this season’s performances are:
- September 12th – William Foley, Music of Antonio Carlos Jobim
- October 10th – David Morgenroth, Music of Johnny Mandel
- November 14th – Scott Bucklin, Music of Duke Ellington
- December 5th – Fredrick Sanders, The Birth of the Blues
- January 16th – Kent Ellingson, Music of George Gershwin
- February 13th – Steve Harlos, Music of Alec Wilder
- March 13th – Jose Aponte, Latin Jazz
- April 10th – Rising Stars, student performers
- May 8th – Starving Jazz Pianists
